The Bucket List: #1-25
With all the driving I do for my job (I’m approaching 20,000 miles on the odometer and I’ve had my vehicle 6 months), I thought I would use some of my windshield time creating a Bucket List. What prompted me to do this? Well, the author of “100 Things To Do Before You Die” has died before completing his list.
I spent portions of last weekend asking people if they had a Bucket List, and very few people did. Most were able to mention a few goals or ideas, but no one spoke at length about a list numbering 10, or even 100. One girl said she wanted to visit every continent. In fact, when I asked this question, the vast majority of people gave a travel-related answer.
I have my own travel-dedicated dreams, but I wanted my Bucket List to encompass more aspects of life. Instead of simply saving up for a grandiose adventure, taking it, and then ticking it off my list, I wanted my list to be more involved in my everyday life.
I had three rules:
- The items on the list have to be measurable. “Be less stubborn” is admirable, but is doesn’t belong on the list. For the most part, I should be able to photograph each achievement.
- The items can be large, or small. Big experiences are important, but so are little ones. Sometimes, they can be just as memorable.
- I’m including some items I’ve already checked off. I’m 32. I get some credit for that, right?
So, here are #1-25 (all 100 are in no particular order):
#1 Run a Marathon.
#2 Run a marathon in every state by the time I turn 50.
